“One of the country’s top 100 races” Runners World Magazine.
At first glance it may seem odd that a small town on the Jersey Shore would be home to one of the largest and best running events in the nation. Since it was first held in 1977, the Spring Lake Five Mile Run has grown from a small local fun run into New Jersey’s largest road race and a nationally recognized event. Despite this growth the race has remained a low key, non-commercial event.
Thanks to the Friends of the Spring Lake Five, Inc, a limited number of entries will be available through charitable organizations. In 2012, the charities were able to raise over $157,000 for their individual causes, with nearly $400,00 raised in the last six years. When announced, we ask that you contact the charities directly for details about entering the race through their email listing.
