T-Shirt Design Winners

Five Mile Designer: Maura Brennan, Point Pleasant, NJ

I have been a resident of Point Pleasant Boro for about 11 years, but grew up in Bergen County, NJ. I attended Trenton State College as an Advertising Design major (where I won a wall mural painting contest) and have worked as a production manager for 3 magazines in the past. I have been working as a Marketing Assistant for Imagery Print & Promotional Products, (www.imageryprint.com) Manasquan, NJ for the past 3 years. I am the Ocean Road School (Point Pleasant) Yearbook Editor (for the past 5 years).

I have always been artistically inclined, and when I saw the T-shirt Design Contest information I knew I just had to submit a design. I decided on the "woody" design because I just think they are so classically retro and so beach-related and fun. I was thrilled when I was contacted about winning the contest and hope that everyone loves the t-shirts!

I really thought I would be a good fit with the Spring Lake Five design contest because I have participated in the race for the past 10 or 11 years (as have my husband, sisters, brother-in-law, mother, and friends; my kids, Jack (10) and Mallory (8) have also been running in the kids race for the past 3 years with their cousins, Kyle, Dennis, and Riley). It is a big weekend in our family as it kicks off our summer with a bang (literally)! We can't wait for a beautiful Memorial Day weekend!

Kids Designer: Leanne Coppola, Wall, NJ

I graduated Wall High School in 1996. I went on to the communication design program at Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA where I studied graphic design, illustration and advertising. I graduated from there with a BFA in 2000. I began my graphic design career as a book designer for Rodale Publishing Company in Emmaus, PA. At Rodale I designed book covers and interiors, cookbooks, and managed photo shoots. After the birth of my first son, Dalton, in 2002 I moved back to Wall with my husband, Rick and started my career as a freelance graphic designer. I currently design for many local companies including Barlow's Flower Farm, Brielle/Spring Lake Rotary Club, The Stone Hut in Pier Village and Gifts of Nature. I live in Wall with my husband of 10 years, Rick, my two sons, Dalton,8 and Garrett,6. I love what I do and I'm so happy to be able to design every day. I was thrilled to hear that my design was chosen for the Kids Race. I started running the adults race a few years ago and I loved being a part of such an event. My boys ran the kids race for the first time last year and now they are excited to get their tshirts with my design on it!

Spring Lake Five Charity Partners

Thanks to the Friends of the Spring Lake Five, Inc, a limited number of entries will be available through charitable organizations. Last year, the charities were able to raise over $20,000 for their individual causes.

We ask that you contact the charities directly for details about entering the race through their email listing. You will be asked to raise a set amount in pledges for the charity. All the money you raise will be given to the charity; your checks are written directly and mailed directly to the charity, not through the Spring Lake Five Mile Run.
