The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts Partners with Local Charities for Spring Lake Five Mile Run

Monmouth County, NJ – April 20, 2007 – Although the Spring Lake Five Mile race has been closed to runners since February, there is a still a chance for runners to receive an entry and raise money for one of five local charities, thanks to the Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts (SBLI), the title sponsor of the Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix.  SBLI has made 100 entries available, twenty to each of five local charities to use as a fundraising tool.

The 2007 Spring Lake Five designated charities include the New Jersey Sharing Network, a non-profit, federally certified, state approved organ procurement organization (OPO); the Wellness Community at  the Diney Goldsmith Center, a non-profit organization with a mission to help people affected by cancer enhance their health and well-being through participation in professional programs of emotional support, education, and hope; the Arthritis Foundation, the only nationwide, nonprofit health organization helping people take greater control of arthritis by leading efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases; Holiday Express, an organization whose mission is deliver music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year; and the Charity House, a foundation dedicated to donating help directly to those in need.

“What makes us proud to be associated with the Spring Lake Five and all of the SBLI Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix races is that the runners are moving towards two goals: a personal-best finish time, and raising money and awareness for these great charities,” said Robert K. Sheridan, SBLI President and CEO. “SBLI of Massachusetts admires their commitment and dedication in pursuing both, and we will be with them every step of the way.”

“Friends of the Spring Lake Five are very happy that SBLI has stepped forward and provided the runners of the Spring Lake Five with a way to contribute to some very deserving local charities, and hope to continue this for many years,” said Phil Hinck, one of the organizers of the SBLI Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix.

Each charity has determined a minimum donation to receive an entry for the race.  In 2006, over $10,000 was contributed to the organizations through this program.
